Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be self employed?

Being self-employed is usually the best way to operate as a freelancer- this can either be done as a sole trader or limited company and you should seek your own independent advice about this. If you do not want to be self-employed though you can work through through an umbrella company who will take care of all your NI, PAYE, pension contributions etc. To find out how much you will earn through this method (based on your day rate) go to the calculatorAlternatively you could become a short-term employee of the company you are working for and they will add you to their payroll (subject to their agreement).

How much does it cost?

It costs you nothing - it's free to register and the employees pay a small fee to get your contact details if they are interested in using you for one of their projects.

How much work will I get?

This is very much dependant upon the amount of jobs being posted, the number of freelancers registered and how broad your qualifications and experiences are. We will attempt to balance the needs of clients and freelancers but unfortunately cannot guarantee the level of  demand at any particular time.

What happens if the employer is not happy with the job?

The work is all done directly for the employer so we will not get involved in that side of things. However, if we receive feedback that the work was not up to standard, we may decide to remove you from the site in order to maintain our own reputation.

Do we have to sign an NDA?

This would be between you and your employer so they may insist on this as part of their own process of appointing you

Can a temporary role lead to permanent employment?

Yes- once an employer has 'bought' your contact details that's it. You and they ca liaiase directly and if a temporary role leads to an offer of permanent employment then you are free to take it. We just ask that you inform us so we can remove your details from the website.
